University Workers Issue 7-Day Strike Notice Over Unpaid Allowances

University Workers SSANU, NASU Give Tinubu Government Seven-Day Strike Notice Over Unpaid Allowances, Arrears

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have jointly issued a seven-day strike notice to the federal government.

The unions accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of failing to pay long-standing allowances and arrears owed to their members despite repeated promises and negotiations.

In a statement, SSANU and NASU stressed that the federal government’s continued delay in addressing their demands has left university workers frustrated, warning that if urgent action is not taken, they will embark on a nationwide strike.

According to the unions, the allowances and arrears form part of previously signed agreements that have been neglected, creating deep dissatisfaction among non-teaching staff in Nigerian universities.
