Okigwe, Imo State — Jubilation erupted in Okigwe today as operatives of the Nigerian Army, working with the Department of State Services (DSS), captured the dreaded criminal kingpin Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as Gentle De Yahoo, in his hideout at Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local
Government Area of Imo State.For the past four years, Gentle De Yahoo has allegedly terrorized Okigwe and surrounding communities with violent attacks, kidnappings, and other criminal activities. Residents say his arrest signals the long-awaited return of peace and security to the region.
Weapons and Items Recovered
- One English pistol
- 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- 25 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
- A cartridge and six mobile phones
- Military and police uniforms
- A German flag
The military also uncovered a workshop used for dismantling stolen vehicles for resale, while ten motorcycles were destroyed during the raid.
Wider Operations
Beyond Imo State, the Nigerian Army confirmed that in related operations across Adamawa, Katsina, and Kogi States, 11 kidnapped persons were rescued, further underscoring the scale of the crackdown.
