Dangote Refinery: Our CNG Drivers Enjoy Life Insurance, Housing Loans, and Triple Minimum Wage

Lagos, Nigeria — The Dangote Refinery has announced that its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) drivers are among the most valued workers in the company, enjoying significant welfare packages that set them apart from industry standards.

According to the company, CNG drivers employed at the refinery benefit from life insurance policies, housing loan schemes, and salaries that are three times the national minimum wage. This move, Dangote says, is part of its commitment to ensuring workers are well taken care of as the refinery scales up operations.

A spokesperson for the refinery explained that the welfare of drivers is a priority, given their critical role in the transportation and distribution of refined petroleum products across Nigeria. The initiative is also expected to attract more skilled workers into the sector and raise the bar for employee benefits within the oil and gas industry.

The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest single-train refinery, recently began full operations and has been positioning itself as not only a game changer in energy supply but also in setting new standards for workers’ welfare in the country.

With this announcement, many industry watchers believe Dangote’s model may push other companies to review compensation packages for their employees, especially within the logistics and transportation segments of the energy industry.
